Can you ship shirts or other products to me?
Although I design t-shirts I do not produce them, as such I cannot ship shirts or other products to you.
Where can I purchase t-shirts with your designs?
A selection of my printed designs, available to purchase online, can be found on my tees for sale page.
Why is "Product Title" not included on your tees for sale page?
If you are aware of any available products which I have not included on my tees for sale page, please let me know.
Where can I buy "Design Title" on a t-shirt?
If a design has been printed and is available to purchase online, it will be included on my tees for sale page. A "Buy Now" link on the design page will take you to the product page of the store selling the product.
If a design does not appear on the tees for sale page, it is most likely unavailable for purchase. This either means that the design has not yet been sold or printed or has been printed but is no longer available.
Why doesn't the "Buy Now" link for "Design Title" work?
This is most likely because the design has sold out or is no longer available. If you are aware of any designs incorrectly listed as being for sale, please let me know.
How much do you charge per commission?
My prices are dependent on the complexity of each project. Your budget will reflect the time I am able to spend on the project, the number of revisions I am able to make and also the complexity of the piece.
How long do you usually take to complete a project?
My turnaround time is usually within 7 business days of starting a project, I am able to work within a shorter timeframe if needed. My working hours are between 9-5 (GMT) on weekdays.
What designs do you have available for £ / $?
Please send me a list of the artwork and rights that you are interested in purchasing from the selection of my artwork for sale. I will then respond with a list of the designs, if any, that I am able to sell to you within your budget.
Do you offer discounts?
The only circumstance under which I may be able to offer a small discount is if you were to purchase multiple pre-made designs from me. The discount amount would depend on which and how many designs you would be purchasing. I do not offer discounts on bulk commissions.
Where can I view your complete catalogue of available artwork?
My complete catalogue of available artwork can be viewed on my artwork for sale page.
Will you feature my project in your portfolio?
Although I reserve the right to showcase any work produced, I cannot guarantee that your project will be featured in my portfolio.
How do you choose your colours?
I have created my own colourway library which I work on regularly. I often select a colourway from this library to use with my designs. If an existing palette is not quite right I will alter it to fit a design and then add the new combination to the library upon completion of the design. If I don't find any of my existing colourways suitable, I will create a new one to fit the piece.
How do you create your colourways?
I create colourways in Adobe Illustrator CS4. I pick out the basic shades for the colourway with the use of the RGB sliders in the "Color" window and fine-tune my colour choices with the use of the "Recolor Artwork" tool.
I treat the creation of a colourway as a separate process to that of the main design. I usually create a swatch palette to the side of the design so that I can view the complete colourway before working it into to the piece. I find that if the colourway works well as a standalone colour palette, the end results are better than if I was to have created the colourway whilst I was colouring the piece.
How can I mock-up a design on a t-shirt?
There are various freely available mock-up templates available on the resource section of emptees.com. Most freely available templates are designed for Photoshop which I do not use. These files are generally very simple to work with. Once opened, paste your artwork into the appropriate layer of the file, usually labeled as "Artwork Layer", change the t-shirt colour if necessary and that should be it.
Do you have any advice as to how I can develop my own style?
If you are consciously trying to develop your own style, you will most likely find it hard to do anything that hasn't already been established as a style by another artist. Having a style is not, or at least shouldn't be, something that requires a lot of hard work to maintain or thought to develop. If you draw things how you like and want them to look, you should find that your style develops naturally. Other than this, your style will most likely be influenced by the programs you use to create your artwork and their limitations.
Do you have any advice as to how I can be more productive?
Keep a list of things to design and projects to work on. For every one item you complete, try and add two new ideas. This allows for a stream of things to do. Try not to over-think your designs. Only design when you feel like it. Become familiar with more efficient ways of completing tasks within the software you use.
Where can I get the mock-up you use?
The mock-up I use is not publicly available. I created this mock-up for my own use so that I can present my work in a consistent and recognisable fashion.
